On October 31st, join Anansi for a virtual stream celebrating the history and culture of hoodoo through a curated DJ set featuring blues, hip-hop, house, disco and soul tracks in 4 acts

note: keep in mind that Hoodoo is a closed spiritual tradition, meaning, it can only be practiced by Black folks who are descendents of Africans who underwent chattle slavery in what is currently known as the US. Since this is primarily a sonic experience, i wont be identity checking at the virtual door. I do expect outside spectators to check your privilege at the door 🧿

Act I - ♠
an intro to hoodoo - experience the time portal jumping from classic blues conjuring music to modern hip-hop juju

Act II - ❤
this section is all about getting in your feelings. Here, you’ll find tracks that will ground you in your spirit, dip into your passions and keep you from running away from the work that is essential to this practice

Act III - ♣
Here i ask you, what is your duty to yourself, your kin, your community? This practice is rooted in resistance, and the truth is - we’re still fighting. this act is all about lighting our fires

Act IV - ♦
when all is said and done, what is the legacy we’re leaving for as future ancestors? for the final act, i choose tracks that speak to what this work is for: the abundance that is already ours
